You’ve got some rather naughty song titles on your album, like ‘You Fuck Like My Dad’ and ‘My Dick Sux’. Annie, are you as sauceworthy as this suggests?
Well, I’m extremely perverse. I’m a per-vert! But it’s also just a thing I’ve had since I was a little kid, I’ve always liked to say things that are totally shocking to my parents or the other kids in school. Oh, and we just made another video for ‘This Isn’t It’, and I show a little panty. Some panty action. Sex sells, and our record doesn’t, so we gotta get moving on that one.
Is it an unstoppable compulsion you have to shock?
Yeah! ‘You Fuck Like My Dad’ was just a song title I came up, it made me laugh. I took it to Micah in the hopes that he would laugh when he heard it. I think he made a noise similar to a laugh when I told him.
Did you laugh, Micah?

Are your parents thrilled with your pop career, Annie?
Yeah! They think it’s funny. My dad said that ‘You Fuck Like My Dad’ is his favourite song, but he told me not to tell anyone, so now I’ve blown it.
Yes, quite. Now Micah, we noticed that your album cover has the words ‘Dick’ and ‘Sux’ censored, but not the word ‘Shit’...
I wonder what they would do if the title was ‘Suck Shit Off My Dick’? That’s probably worse than both. They were very confused, because they’ve never had a band with swearing in the titles, but not in the lyrics.
Annie, did you really drink piss with The Like? [At a gig in LA with The Like, Annie told the the audience that Giant Drag and The Like had had a backstage competition to see who would headline. "Boy, those girls can drink piss..." was the punchline.]
No. Actually, that was the clean version. I knew their parents were in the audience. The night before, in San Francisco, I said that it was actually a cum drinking contest. You know, I didn’t want to offend anyone.
That’s very decent of you. What's with all the knives on your sleeves and stuff, Annie?
I really like knives! You can’t get them through airport security, though. I used to take knives out to bars and get drunk. It got bad sometimes. I liked flicking them open, and one time I flicked a knife open and a screw was loose and the blade shot out across the room, it could have really hurt someone. I was at a bar in LA and I had a friend take a picture of my hand against a sparkly pink wall, and I knew that was the record cover I wanted for the EP. It sums up my personality; something really cute and something really harsh.
On the CD sleeve you’re pushing that knife hard against your leg - it wasn’t actually going in, was it?
No, it was just sorta poking. I’m not a cutter or anything. I don’t take knives out with me anymore either. I’m scared about what I might do.
Do you like frightening people?
I do! I like scaring. Not like super-bad, but just like going ‘Boo!’. I scared the crap out of Micah the other day. I was hiding behind a door, waiting for him.
