A Brief History of Gabriella Cilmi
Gabriella Climi grew up in Melbourne, in the wonderfully named suburb of Dandenong. Developing a taste for music as diverse as Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin and Cat Stevens at an early age, she later joined a covers band to belt out hits by Silverchair and Jet.
In 2004, when she was just 13, she visited America and the UK in the hope of finding a record deal. In fact, she found four massive US deals, eventually deciding to sign on the dotted line with Island.
A few soundtrack appearances and a Rufus Wainwright tour later and Gabriella found her debut single 'Sweet About Me' racking up Top Ten hits across the world and her first album, 'Lessons To Be Learned', doing the same.
