There probably wasn't a happier man in the world than Guy Garvey when it was announced that his group Elbow had won the 2008 Nationwide Mercury Music Prize for their album The Seldom Seen Kid.

Having been together for an incredible eighteen years, there can be few who'd argue the Bury band didn't deserve their award (especially as they're some of the nicest fellas in the business).
