James Frey returns with his new book, Bright Shiny Morning, about life in Los Angeles - it is being sold as his first work of fiction.

This is despite its being revealed in 2006 that the American author had fabricated parts of his memoir of drug addiction, A Million Little Pieces, which topped the bestseller lists for 15 weeks.

The drama of his ensuing fall from grace enthralled the publishing world.

His biggest fan, Oprah Winfrey, publicly denounced him and, in his words, he became a toxic property no publisher would touch.
