Channel 4 News has appointed Siobhan Kennedy as its new Business Correspondent.
Siobhan joins Channel 4 News from the Times where she's currently Politics and Business correspondent, based at Westminster.
Jim Gray, Channel 4 News Editor said: "Siobhan will be a great asset to our business firepower at a crucial time for the economy the world over."
Dorothy Byrne, Head of Current Affairs for Channel 4 said: "Siobhan is a top ranking journalist and is joining a very strong Business and Economics team at an exciting time."
Before joining the Times' Westminster team Siobhan worked for the Times' Business section as Mergers and Private Equity Correspondent - an investigative role where she quickly made her mark breaking big deal stories including exclusively reporting that Richard Branson's Virgin had submitted a proposal to buy Northern Rock.
Prior to The Times, Siobhan worked for Reuters heading the team covering mergers, banking and the City.
Previously based in New York for five years, she covered the Internet boom and bust including the collapse of some of America's biggest companies including Worldcom and Global Crossing.
Siobhan was also one of the first reporters on the scene for Reuters during the 9/11 terror attacks and won plaudits for her range of stories in the aftermath of the crisis.
Of her appointment she said: "I am thrilled to be joining a team that is famous, not just in Britain, but internationally, for its bold and innovative approach to news gathering and presentation. I can not wait to become part of such a talented team of correspondents and presenters."
"There couldn't be a better time to be covering business," she added.
Siobhan's coverage of the private equity sector earned her the British Venture Capital Association's award for best national newspaper journalist in 2007.
Siobhan will join the team later in the autumn.
