Peter Brook's 'ghastly prospect'

The respected theatre director gives Nicholas Glass his frank assessment of London's plan to stage a 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
At 83, Peter Brook is a hugely influential and revered figure. He has brought a cycle of short Beckett plays to the Young Vic in London. Samuel Beckett was a friend.
In 1968, he published the Empty Space - his thoughts on theatre. In 1970, he famously left for Paris to form an international company based there and tour the world. He has been lauded with honours. - most recently something called the Ibsen Prize in Oslo.
But there's been no approach from the organisers of the so-called Cultural Olympiad, leading up to 2012 Games in London.
