Viewer response to Tchaikowsky skull

I'm going to the 9 January 2009 production at the Novello and have paid good money for the full Stratford experience, skull included! Reinstate the skull!
Jon Lunn

Yes please let's keep the real skull.
Anne Marigold

I wish to declare my support for returning André Tchaikowsky to his rightful role as Yorrick. Give him a break, he might be dead but he's never late.
Adam Rivers

I vote that Andre's Skull SHOULD appear on stage in the West End. REAL SKULL - YES!
David Mack

Yes - please reinstate Andre's skull.
John Hill, Middlesex

It was the dying man's wish to have his skull used. It makes no difference to the play, and if the performance is as good as people are saying it is; no one will even notice it's a real skull. Let the poor chap have his wish.
Nigel Rose

David Tennant has proved himself to be a brave performer - what a responsibility to take Shakespeare to a whole new audience - let him take the skull too!
Sue Sharpe

I believe Mr Tchaikowsky's will should be respected. The actors clearly had no problem working with the relic at Stratford. It is not the first time a bequeathed skull has been used for this purpose.
Hermione Wade, London

Please have the RSC reinstate the skull. How vibrant will the grave scene become!!!!! (Also, I am sure that a lot of tickets have already been bought on that premise).
Ian Swann

Please reinstate Andre Tchaikowsky's skull in the RSC's Hamlet in London!
Nick Foster-Hill

Do they really think a skull can upstage David Tennant? Give me a break. Fulfil the man's dying wish. Let him go on. Break a leg, Andre. Oh. Well. You know what I mean.
Martha Kuhn

What is the RSC afraid of? Mortality? Notoriety? Polite manners? Would Shakespeare have been afraid?
Patrick Deegan

Reinstate the skull Why not? It's not disrespectful and it's what the guy wanted. The actors and audience should feel privileged.
Angela Outerbridge

As long as the skull is stored with the appropriate respect (rather than dumped in a prop box) why shouldn't Mr Tchaikowsky play Yorick's skull and be properly credited in the cast list?
Mel Richards, Edinburgh

Was there a reason Tchaikowsky's skull was dropped from the production? I am completely baffled! What a historic gesture it COULD have been. And what an insult indeed to the memory of such a passionate composer, why not just trash and burn the ancient scores of the dancing sugar plum fairies while they're at it....
Will Daniel, Hertfordshire

I think Tchaikowsky's skull should be back on stage as Yorick for the RSC's London run of Hamlet. It seems extraordinary that the RSC was happy to respect the Polish pianist's dying wish and use his skull for the production of Hamlet at Stratford and yet feels it is in some way inappropriate and "distracting" for it to be on stage now that its provenance is generally known.
Amanda Campbell, London

Of course they should use the skull! What sensible reason could they have for not using it? Sorry, I forgot about Health & Safety and all the rest of the politically correct lemmings! That'll seal it.
Michael Reiser

I strongly believe that a dying person's wish should be respected and that the real skull MUST be reinstated! There is enough plastic rubbish in our world and art should be real!
Angela Monteux

We have tickets to see Hamlet during its London run. I am certain we would not be distracted by seeing Mr Tchaikowsky's skull on stage. We support reinstatement.
Martin Ginny & Laurence Routledge, Kent

Yes, the skull should be used!
Bernie Garcia

Mr Tchaikowsky's skull must be given a part. It was his dying wish; it's a piece of bone; its a no-brainer!
Peter Haldane

Yes of course it should be reinstated. I knew Andre, and he was a man who meant what he said. And it was his dying wish - how can that be ignored?
Dorothy Hamilton

Tchaikowsky's skull should definitely be reinstated.
Ellie Novio

Please, please reinstate the real skull.
Nick Pearce
