The government will be asked to reconsider a one pound levy on all air tickets to protect passengers if an airline goes bust. Jane Dodge reports.
The levy was proposed by the Transport Committee three years ago, but the government and many airlines rejected it.
Almost twelve thousand people have now been flown back to the UK after being left in the lurch by the collapse of XL Group.
The aviation regulator said the vast majority of holidaymakers would be flown back on their original departure date.
