The former policeman who claims he carried out the eavesdropping of the government whip Sadiq Khan, said he came under "significant pressure" from Scotland Yard to bug the MP.

Mark Kearney, a former police intelligence officer at Woodhill Prison in Milton Keynes, says he'll cooperate with the inquiry by the Chief Surveillance commissioner into claims Mr Khan's conversation with terror suspect Babar Ahmed was bugged.

It was also revealed that officials at the Home Office and Justice Ministry knew about the incident in December but did not tell ministers.
