Gordon Brown takes time out for a family holiday in the Suffolk seaside town Southwold.

Come the summer, many of us need a holiday, Gordon Brown perhaps more than most.

It's tough enough being prime minister, but when the economy is on the slide and your opinion poll ratings are following suit, relaxation with your family at the seaside must offer blessed relief.

After meeting Barack Obama, Brown set off to a country park in Norfolk and then headed to Southwold on the Suffolk coast.
