One year after their kidnapping, the families and friends of five men abducted in Iraq have spoken out for the first time.

"Give him back, let him come home to his family", was the plea from one of the relatives of the men.

Today's appeal, which marks the anniversary of their seizure, is the first time the families of the four security guards and one IT consultant have spoken out.

The foreign office had requested minimal media coverage of their plight, as they continued negotiations for their release.
