Female births plummet in India

Women in India are flouting the law in their efforts to ensure they give birth to a boy.
It is against the law in India for doctors to tell would-be parents the sex of their unborn child.
But this is being increasingly flouted, and now new figures show the number of girls being born or surviving to the age of six has fallen dramatically.
In one state, Punjab, there are now just 300 young girls to every 1,000 boys.
The charity ActionAid has conducted interviews with women who have had as many as five abortions in the hope of satisfying their family's desire for a boy.
