Scientists claim a genetic quirk that makes some Ecuadorians very small could cure cancer and diabetes.
A group of scientists has found a community of very small people in the southern Ecuadorian town of Loja enjoys immunity from both cancer and diabetes.
Not one member has ever suffered from either disease, despite the fact that they are so common elsewhere.
Scientists say that if they could understand why, the impact worldwide could be huge.
Ramita Navai reports.
