Gold medal glutton Michael Phelps has spoken about his planned trip to the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Phelps has won his eighth Olympic gold medal at the Beijing Games to succeed Mark Spitz as the best swimmer of all time.

And he is planning to carry his winning streak on to London in four years time.

Phelps said he is looking forward to his first trip to the city and said he has plenty of friends to visit.

The record-breaker said he wants to "check out the whole city."

He also wants to see a Manchester United football game while he is here.
